Pump Salon BREAKS Guinness World Record
Most consecutive haircuts by a team in 24 hours
The parking lot at the Rockwood Commons & Pavilion in Cincinnati, Ohio was quite the site on the weekend of September 24th, 2010. Pump Salon cut towards achieving the Guinness World Records title for Most Haircuts by a Team in 24 Hours.
The event started on Friday September 24th at exactly 12:00noon. The event received great publicity, bringing out an amazing crowd to partake. The line snaked out the tent with over an hour wait. The haircuts were free, with all donations going to 6 varying charities. Throughout the 24 hour period, there was a live DJ spinning pump up music, free Vitamin Water and Fuze products, a Wella Color consultation stand, as well as other vendor attractions.
In order to have a qualified haircut, the contestants had to have a minimum length of hair to begin with and then every hair on the head had to be cut at least a certain amount. The ten stylists worked through the 24 hours with little breaks to finish with a total of 618 qualified haircuts at 12:00noon on Saturday September 25th. Volunteers and professional stylists worked to help verify the haircuts and confirm they were qualified cuts in accordance with the Guinness World Records guidelines. The employees of Pump Salon were very welcoming and accommodating. I met and had great conversations with numerous people. It was great to see a group of employees that were like a family working together and supporting one another to get through a grueling 24 hours of hard work.
